Who are we? Tim and I are a Singapore-based couple who is about to shed the prestigious DINKs status (Double Income No Kids) for DIMKs (Double Income Maid and Kids). We were married in Aug 2004 and would have spent 2 years 8 months as a lovey-dovey couple before being thrown into the throes of parenthood come May 2007. For the record, we were a hot couple. Here’s the evidence to keep for posterity before age and parenthood turn us into Auntie and Uncle:
Why “Double Happiness”? This is the nickname given to me by a colleague, Judith Alagirisamy, because Tim and I are having TWINS! Although for a very long time I had to grapple with the fact that I’m going to be mother by the age of 29 instead of mid-thirties as scheduled, I was eventually rational enough to realize that carrying twins is truly a blessing.
Why start the pregnancy blog so late? The idea of starting a blog is given by my dear friend in Holland, Huijun (otherwise affectionately known as Tabi). She had suggested that to me sometime in October. However my usual Procrastinating Self just refused to start work as I ploughed through an uncomfortable, sleepy, bloated first trimester. Also, part of me is superstitious, worried that communicating my pregnancy in the early stages would somehow jinx it. Now that I’m into a more comfortable second trimester stage at week 21, I no longer have the excuse of fatigue. Plus having felt the first baby kick on 1 Jan, it seems that this pregnancy is going to happen afterall and no amount of blogging is gonna jinx it! So here I am…
